Thursday marked 11 weeks since I've been in the DRCongo. My initial departure date was Saturday, Sept. 1! But I'm happy to have my internship extended for 3 more months - until Dec.1! I'm learning so much, I'm meeting wonderful people and I'm growing. Here's a photo update of what I was up to in July - mostly eating. :D

I've been in the Congo now for five weeks. I've experienced loneliness, frustration, feelings of incompetence, fatigue and a near crash landing on the Congolese national carrier, Air Bravo. But God's provision has been...amazing. Work - while hectic and at times ad hoc - has been fulfilling. I've actually noticed improvements in my French (praise the Lord! Seriously!). I've met great people. I feel challenged everyday. I haven't yet fallen sick. The weather is warm but cooler than it is in Seattle! What more could I ask for.

The last few weeks have been a blur of final exams, graduation ceremonies, packing/moving/re-packing and spending quality time with the people I love (although I didn't get to see everyone). Here are some photo highlights:

One last get-together with all of my beloved co-workers and friends from the MBA program. I can't believe I've worked there for four years now! Those four years are one of the highlights of my time at UW.

The Jackson School Convocation:

Graduation at Husky Stadium. A day Gloria perfectly described as 'soggy':

Look who I ran into in line: David!

My dad was like the paparazzi. haha~

I leave for the Congo tomorrow. Please pray for a safe and smooth journey with luggage arrival in tact and on time. I hope everyone has a great summer!

Swim Like a Fish

My good friend, Lizzy, is currently teaching English in South Korea. This video is of one of her students. It's SO adorable. Enjoy!

THANK YOU JESUS! After three phone interviews and months of waiting, I received an offer to intern with the International Rescue Committee in their Bukavu field office! That means I'm heading to the Democratic Republic of the Congo right after graduation. Wow, I can't believe I'm going back to Africa. I can imagine that the DRC is completely different from Ghana. This will be a great adventure, although I'm expecting challenging times as well, particularly with my French listening comprehension. Thanks to everyone who has taken an interest in my endeavors by encouraging me, speaking French with me and praying for me. =)

Bukavu is in the far east of the DRC, on the southern shore of Lake Kivu, near Kigali, Rwanda.
